As you may have noticed we have changed our name from Aoife Rose Designs to MacTire Kids, so, I thought I would write this blog and explain our reasons for doing this.
Aoife Rose Designs as many of you know started as a handmade clothing shop, I was selling my own handmade clothes on facebook and at markets. I had a great response and as time went on I wanted to increase the items I could offer my loyal customers. As a busy mum of six I had plenty of experience in child related items so the idea grew to turn my little business into a one stop shop for parents. I have kept Aoife Rose Designs as the brand name for my handmade clothing range.
The name MacTire Kids comes from the Irish word for wolf- Mac Tire, the wolf is one of my favourite animals and they are such a family orientated animal, which i love. Also the literal translation of Mac Tire is ‘son of the country’ which reflects the way in which we want to help parents make more environmentally friendly choices for their families. We felt the name fit for what we are hoping to achieve.
How we chose our new ranges:
I have use cloth nappies on my own children and am an advocate for choosing cloth and reducing waste so this was definitely something i wanted to offer. I also wanted to look at companies that offer that bit more with their products and so I found From Babies With Love clothing brand, a beautiful brand of organic clothing that gives all its profits to helping underprivileged children around the world!
Since we started expanding we have looked closely at all the brands we supply and have changed things even within the last year to better reflect where we want to go. We are looking to source brands closer to home and give Irish designers a platform on which to sell.
We are now a member of Guaranteed Irish so you know you are getting quality products and service.
We have a new linen range coming out in May 2020. This range will be handmade by me! While i was researching for the new expansion I started looking into how different fabrics impact the environment and found that linen is one of the most environmentally friendly fabrics you can get. I started playing around with designs as I wanted to keep our easy wear easy wash fun clothing ethos, and feel we have come up with a super new range which will be perfect for the summer, i can’t wait to share it with you all.
For now I will leave you with our new logo which my husband drew and incorporates all our children which was no easy feat!
I am so grateful for all my loyal customers who have come on this journey and can’t wait to meet many more new parents.
